A computer's RAM is one of the main components that determines the overall performance of a PC. After all, if there is not enough RAM, no matter how powerful the processor, you will still not be able to use its full potential. Also, if there is a lack of RAM, the capabilities of the video card will be used by half. So it's better to know the amount of RAM if you are not already aware of this resource of your PC.
Necessary
- - Computer with Windows OS;
- - AIDA64 Extreme Edition program.
Instructions
Step 1
One of the easiest ways to find out the amount of RAM is the system memory. Click on "My Computer" with the right mouse button. Select Properties from the context menu. A window will open showing basic information about your system. There will be data on the amount of RAM.
Step 2
You can also find out this information in this way. Click Start. Select "All Programs". Go to "Standard Programs" in which select "Command Prompt". At the command prompt, type Msinfo32.exe and press Enter. This will open the System Information window. In this window, find the line "Installed RAM".
Step 3
32-bit Windows operating systems can only recognize four gigabytes of RAM. If you think that more than this indicator can be installed on your computer, then it is better to use special programs to determine the amount of RAM on 32-bit systems that allow you to see complete information about the resources of the PC.
Step 4
Download the AIDA64 Extreme Edition software. Install it on your computer hard drive. Run the program. After starting it, it will take a few seconds to determine the system parameters. Then you will be taken to the main menu of the program. In its right window select "Computer", then - "General information".
Step 5
A window will appear with several sections. You are interested in the "System Board" section. Find "System Memory" in it. This is the total amount of RAM installed on your computer. Below is information about each RAM module. You can see not only the size of the RAM module, but also its type and frequency of operation. This information can be useful if you want to add more RAM to your computer.
