Sometimes it becomes necessary to add a caption to a photo - either as a watermark for copyright protection, or in order to turn the photo into a commemorative card. Adobe Photoshop, along with many others, provides this opportunity.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the photo in Photoshop. Find the big T on the toolbar. Expand the list by right-clicking on the triangle in the lower right corner. Choose the right tool depending on the type of lettering you want to make. The Horizontal Type Tool writes from right to left, the Vertical Type Tool - from top to bottom.
Step 2
On the property bar, set the font parameters for your lettering - its appearance, style, size and color. The style can be Regular, Italic, Bold, and Bold Italic. In the box with the list marked with the letter T, select the font size. If none of the suggested ones suit you, it doesn't matter. You can resize the finished label by applying a free transform to it. Press the Ctrl + T combination, hold down the Shift key, move the cursor over any of the nodes on the frame around the text and, moving the mouse, change the size of the letters.
Step 3
The color of the letters can be selected both on the property bar and on the toolbar. By default, the property bar is set to the foreground color. Click on the colored rectangle (Set the text color) and select the desired tone on the appeared palette.
Step 4
The second button on the right (Create warped text) brings up the Warp Text window, in which you can select the general appearance of your text. The amount of distortion is adjusted with sliders.
Step 5
To apply styles and effects to the label, right-click on it and select the Rasterize Type option in the context menu. Double click on the thumbnail of the labeled layer to get into the Layer Style dialog box. Using the Drop Shadow and Inner Shadow options, you can achieve a three-dimensional effect.
