Instructions
Step 1
Open a command prompt on your computer to get the IP address of the computer you are interested in on the local network. In the Start menu, find the Run utility (for Windows XP, for Vista and Seven operating systems, just use the search bar).
Step 2
Write down cmd and press the Enter key, you should see a large black window in which you need to enter the ping command and write the exact computer name after a space. The task can be complicated if the user of the computer you are interested in uses a firewall, here it is worth trying to repeat the procedure several times.
Step 3
Pay attention to special programs that automate obtaining an IP address by computer name. Be extremely careful in their use, because many of them, having permission from you to use the Internet, can harm the operating system and files of computer users.
Step 4
In the case of using an IP address to find out the computer name, please note that this action can also be complicated by the installed firewalls, and if knowing the computer name, it is quite easy to get the address by sending a ping several times, everything is much more complicated here.
Step 5
After you find out the information about the IP address of the computer, proceed to the identification of its owner, if necessary. Use special servers to obtain information about the user at the address of his computer on the network, for example, https://www.whoisinform.ru/, https://iontail.com/?p=utils or https://www.all-nettools.com /. Enter the IP address known to you in the appropriate form, and then select the appropriate type of request. Press the Enter key. Next, find out the name of the owner by contacting his provider.
