Controlling traffic means controlling user access (accounting, statistics and monitoring). Traffic limiting includes blocking certain sites, the rate of its consumption at the entrance and exit, as well as the work schedule. You can control traffic on the local network using various programs.
Necessary
- - User Gate program;
- - Lan2net NAT Firewall.
Instructions
Step 1
To restrict traffic in the local network, install the Lan2net NAT Firewall program on your computer. Start it up.
Step 2
Use the program to set quotas for incoming and outgoing traffic, block unwanted sites, set the blocking of IP addresses that are unwanted. To block a site, simply add its URL to the blacklist.
Step 3
Limit access to sites of certain topics. Just select the required category from the 30 present in the list. Also, this program will help to set the time schedule for users. At the same time, the computer will be able to send and receive mail and have access to corporate portals.
Step 4
Count traffic using Lan2net NAT Firewall. Thus, you can find out the total traffic of each computer on the local network.
Step 5
Install the User Gate software. Use it to create lists of prohibited or allowed domain names, IP addresses. You only need to enter part of the URL string to allow or deny access to all sites in which it is present. Specify ranges for users of IP addresses.
Step 6
Use the User Gate to limit the access speed, define the daily, weekly or monthly traffic consumption limit for a group or a single user.
Step 7
Install the Kerio application on your computer. Reduce the speed of outgoing traffic and incoming data with the Bandwidth Limiter module. To do this, set the values for the limits for transferring large amounts of data at the top of the dialog box.
Step 8
At the bottom of the window, the speed values are set for users who have exceeded their traffic limit. To restrict access to certain addresses, open the VPN client settings, find the IP addresses tab and specify which of them this user can have access to.
