Necessary

  • - Synaptic Package Manager component;
  • - a disk with the program.

Instructions

Step 1

This process will be discussed further on one of the most famous Linux versions - Ubuntu. For many novice users, it is better to use the Synaptic Package Manager to start the installation of programs, which will allow you to complete this procedure without any extra hassle.

Step 2

To run the component, select System, then - Administration and Synaptic Package Manger. In the window that appears, enter the administrator password. A window will appear in which there will be a list of programs available for installation. If there is not one that you need among it, you can use the search and find it on the Internet. You can search by different criteria, for example, "Games", "Programs".

Step 3

Select the program you need. Check the box next to it, and then also check Mark for installation. The application installation is now started. The download of the program you have selected will begin, and after it finishes, the application installation process itself will start. Now all you need to do is wait for the procedure to complete. Close the window by clicking on Close. This completes the installation of the program.

Step 4

If you do not have access to the Internet, you can install programs from the disc. First, insert the media into your computer's optical drive. Now open Synaptic Package Manager. Then click "Settings" - "Repositories" - "Ubuntu Software" - "Third Party Software" - "Add CD".

Step 5

The further installation process is identical to the steps described above, only without the program download procedure. In Ubuntu, all installed programs are divided into appropriate categories ("Internet", "Graphics", "Offices", "Games", etc.). Just select the desired section, find the program in it and launch it.
