Routers are a fairly wide class of routing devices, but when applied to home or office networks, this word usually denotes a device that distributes transmitted data packets between computers connected to it and a connected Internet connection line. As a rule, access to the settings of the router is possible through a browser from any computer on the local network it serves.
Instructions
Step 1
Make sure that the router is supplied with power and the computer from which you want to access the control panel of the settings of this device is connected to the local network it serves. Such a connection can be established via a wireless WI-FI connection (which requires the introduction of a code key) or a direct wired connection via a twisted pair cable with RJ-45 connectors.
Step 2
Launch any browser installed on your operating system and type the URL in its address bar and press the Enter key. Depending on the type of router used, this address may be different, but the most commonly used IP addresses are 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.253. If none of them works, then check the address for your model in the instructions for its use.
Step 3
Enter your username and password in the appropriate fields of the form - this form will be present on the page loaded into the browser after going to the entered address. If you haven't changed the settings, the default login and password will be very simple - for example, the same admin login and password for ASUS routers, admin login and 1234 password for Zyxel, admin login and password password for Netgear, admin login and no password for D -Link. Some routing devices have additional protection on this page - for example, the D-Link router also requires entering in an additional field a set of letters and numbers indicated in the uploaded picture.
Step 4
Click the submit authorization data button after all the required fields are filled in. The router will check the entered data with the saved values and load the control panel with its settings into the browser window. If the authorization data turns out to be incorrect, you will see a corresponding message and get an additional attempt. If you changed the factory password and username, and now you cannot remember them, then you need to press the Reset button on the router case to restore the default username and password. However, keep in mind that this will also reset all other changes you made to the router settings.
