Most often, the mouse loses its performance due to the chafing of the cable at the entrance to the case. The rest of its parts may be completely serviceable. This damage can be repaired if the mouse case is properly disassembled. How to do this, read on.

Step 1
Disconnect the mouse from the system unit. Examine its bottom. Find the screws. Take the correct screwdriver and unscrew them. Open the case. Please note that this must be done by prying its upper part from the side opposite to the cable entry. If the laser mouse cannot be disassembled, then you have not removed all the screws.
Step 2
Check for hidden screws. They can be located under the stickers and rubber feet on the bottom of the mouse body. Also note that if the mouse is still subject to warranty repair, then the violation of stickers and rubber inserts deprives you of the right to use it if necessary.
Step 3
If the screws are under the rubber feet, unscrew them, and put the feet away in a prominent place so that they do not get lost. later it will be inconvenient to use the mouse without rubber feet.
Step 4
Open the mouse. Remove the wheel. The wheel is usually equipped with a shaft. One end of the shaft is secured in a split joint, the other end is inserted into the hole in the encoder. Release the shaft, lift it slightly, and then pull it out of the encoder to disassemble the optical mouse.
Step 5
Take a screwdriver. Remove all screws that secure the board. Then open all latches and remove the board from its place. Remove the optical overlay with a prism and lens from the board. Leave the multi-pin connector at the end of the cable. Take the NIPPERS. Cut the cable before it enters the housing.
Step 6
Strip all contacts. Take a soldering iron. Focusing on the colors, solder all the conductors to the corresponding places of their entrance to the board on the same contact pads. Do not assemble a laser mouse. Connect it to your personal computer. Check if the LED is on. Then check if there is a reaction to wheel rotation and key presses.
Step 7
Place the optical overlay on the board and check the movement. If the mouse is connected to a USB port, then it will be detected even when the computer is already on, which cannot be said about a mouse with a PS / 2 port. It will not be visible until the PC restarts. If the mouse works properly, route the cable so that it does not interfere with closing the case. Assemble the mouse, screw in all the screws, and reinstall the rubber feet.
