When text is positioned on both sides of the sheet, we are talking about double-sided printing. This printing method has its own differences, it requires the user to take certain actions and apply the appropriate settings. Print options can be set when accessing the printer, and the placement of text on the page is determined in a text editor.

Instructions

Step 1

There are two options for duplex printing. The first way is the easiest. Open the document in a text editor such as Microsoft Office Word. From the File menu, choose the Print command. If you have a new version of the program installed, click on the Office button in the upper left corner of the window and also select "Print" from the context menu.

Step 2

In the "Print" dialog box, place a marker in the "Printer" group in the "Duplex" field and confirm your actions. Read the instructions that appear after counting the pages in the document. Wait until all the odd-numbered pages of the document have been printed, then turn the sheets over to the back side - the missing even-numbered pages will be printed.

Step 3

The same can be done in another way: call the "Print" dialog box, in the "Enable" group, use the drop-down menu to set the value "Odd pages" in the "Print" field. After the pages are printed, sort them so that the first page lies on top (hereinafter - the third, fifth, seventh). Place the pages in the printer tray with the blank side up and select Even Pages in the Print field.

Step 4

If the right and left margins in the document were not equal, with the methods described above, an odd page will have a larger right margin, and an even page will have a smaller one. This can be inconvenient when stitching a document. To fix this, you need to set the desired parameters in the editor itself.

Step 5

Click the Page Layout tab and find the Page Setup section. Click the arrow-shaped button below the Fields thumbnail and select the Mirror option from the drop-down list. The document will change its appearance: on odd pages, the left margin will be larger, and on even pages, the right margin will be larger. After that, the document can be printed using any of the methods described above.

Step 6

You can also set the size of the margins and binding yourself. To do this, in the same section, click on the "Fields" button and select the "Custom Fields" option. In the dialog box that opens, enter the size of margins and binding you need on the “Margins” tab in the group of the same name and click the OK button for the settings to take effect.
