The waste ink container must be cleaned without fail before filling. This is a necessary step in refilling a cartridge in any printer, since toner residues directly affect print quality.
Necessary
- - screwdriver;
- - soft, lint-free fabric.
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare your work surface. Please note that before you reach the container, you will have to disassemble the cartridge completely, and it contains several components, many of which are very small and easy to lose. Therefore, it is best to cover the surface with a light-colored cloth, remove the Canon cartridge from your printing device and inspect it carefully.
Step 2
Locate the side fasteners that hold the cartridge caps in place. Unscrew them, and then all the rest, one by one removing the elements of the cartridge. Pay special attention to the spring, carefully remove it and put it in a prominent place so as not to lose it. Be careful, the toner used for printing contains substances hazardous to life and health, therefore, do not allow it to enter the eyes or respiratory tract.
Step 3
Clean the container from toner residues with a slightly damp cloth. Wipe it with a dry, lint-free cloth. Be sure to do the same for the other components of your cartridge. The best option would be to blow through every part with a hair dryer, however, make sure that it has a cold air supply mode first. Only perform this step after wiping off toner residues with a damp cloth, as ink may enter your eyes or inhale.
Step 4
Make sure there is no toner left in the container or other parts of the cartridge. Pour ink into the container, not completely, but about 10 percent less than intended. This is due to the fact that it is not completely consumed, but simply settles on the parts of the cartridge, after which the print quality deteriorates noticeably.
Step 5
Reassemble your cartridge, shake it lightly from side to side, and insert it into the printer or MFP. Print test pages. Sometimes the first 10 can come out with streaks or white stripes.
