Step 1
The principle of operation of the chip is quite simple. It reads information about the number of pages printed. When their number is equal to the maximum value that is recorded in the memory of the chip, it starts to issue an alert that the cartridge needs to be replaced. And in this case, ink may remain in the cartridge itself. Even if it is really empty, then after filling it, the ability to print will be blocked. Accordingly, in order to print pages again, you just need to reset this chip to zero.
Step 2
First of all, you need to purchase a reprogrammer, that is, a device with which you can reset the cartridge chip. Of course, these are additional costs. But it is better to buy it once than to buy new cartridges all the time. Just a couple of gas stations, and the device will pay off with interest. It is better to buy the one that is right for your model. If you did not manage to find one, which is unlikely, then you can purchase a universal reprogrammer.
Step 3
After purchasing, be sure to read the instructions. There will be detailed recommendations for the operation of the device. Refill the cartridge before zeroing the chip. Although each printer model has its own peculiarities of zeroing, in principle this process is similar on all models.
Step 4
So, in order to reset the cartridge chip, the reprogrammer must be brought close to the chip. A special indicator on the device should light up, this indicates that the contact between the device and the cartridge is established. When the contact appears, you should hold the device in this position for about 5-7 seconds. The indicator light should change from its original color to a different one. Changing the color of the indicator indicates that the chip has been successfully zeroed. Then insert the cartridge into the printer and test its operation. To do this, print a page. If everything went well, then the chip has been successfully reset.
