A printer is a universal device for printing the necessary files, photos and other documentation. For some models, the cost of purchasing a new cartridge can be very expensive. Therefore, many users have learned to refuel them at home. But each cartridge contains a chip that signals the level of ink in it. When self-refueling, the chip stops working correctly, so it needs to be reset.
Necessary
IPTool or MPTool program
Instructions
Step 1
In order to reset the chip on the Canon printer, you need to install the IPTool or MPTool program on your computer (the first two letters are the model of your device). It can either be downloaded from the Internet or purchased from a Canon service center. When installing the application, follow the prompts that appear on the monitor screen. When prompted by the system, enter the license key (if any). Please note that IPTool / MPTool is in English only.
Step 2
To begin zeroing cartridges, purchase the correct ink for your printer. Refuel to the maximum possible. Run the program. In the window that appears, select the Change Model section, and in it - the model of your printer. After that, the functions for resetting the chips of the black and color cartridge will appear. Click Reset Black and Reset Color, respectively. This will launch the program.
Step 3
At the end of the application, you will see a corresponding dialog box, which will indicate that the operation was successful. When you access the printer menu, you will see that the ink cartridge level has reached 100%. When it decreases, the percentage value, respectively, will fall.
Step 4
Some Canon printers have chip zero protection. In this case, you can simply turn off the function for detecting the ink fill level. But then you yourself will have to control when to refuel a new portion of paint.
