Step 1
When replacing the power supply, you should adhere to the basic rules of electrical safety. Before replacing, you must de-energize the system unit by unplugging the power cord from the outlet. Then you need to remove the side wall of the system unit. If the side wall of the system unit is attached by means of snap fasteners, then it is necessary to open the latches and remove the side wall. Some manufacturers of system units secure the side panels with connecting screws. Take a screwdriver and unscrew them.
Step 2
Disconnect all power cables that are connected to the motherboard, hard drives, and CD / DVD drives. Turn the system unit with the back side (back wall) towards you. Hold the power supply with one hand, with the other hand holding a screwdriver. Remove all screws carefully. It is necessary to hold the power supply due to its possible fall on the components of the motherboard. Take out the power supply.
Step 3
Installing a new power supply unit is performed in the reverse order of the above described process. Take the power supply unit and put it in its original place. Replace the screws where they were on the previous PSU. Connect all power cables in the same order. Close the side wall of the system unit. Plug the power cord of the system unit into a power outlet. Turn on the computer and check that the new power supply is working properly.
