BIOS is designed to prepare the PC to start the OS. This menu stores system settings. BIOS capabilities are highly dependent on the motherboard model. The more options the board has, the more different parameters can be configured. As is the case with drivers, which are periodically updated by developers to fix errors of previous versions and increase the functionality of the device, a new BIOS version is released from time to time.

Necessary

  • - ASUS Update utility;
  • - AIDA64 Extreme Edition program.

Instructions

Step 1

Next, we will review the process of updating the BIOS firmware using the ASUS Update utility. Although it is mainly intended for motherboards from ASUS, it works great with motherboards from other manufacturers as well. Download this utility from the Internet. Install it on your computer.

Step 2

After starting the program, select Update BIOS from internet in the main menu. If the program manages to find a newer version of the BIOS firmware, then you will be informed about this in the utility window. Then click "Next". Now all that is needed is to wait for the BIOS update procedure, during which you will not be able to work on the computer. After it finishes, the computer will restart. The BIOS version will be updated.

Step 3

If your motherboard is not from ASUS, but from another developer, the update via the Internet may not work. In this case, you need to act in this way. Download AIDA64 Extreme Edition from the Internet. Install it on your computer. Run the program and wait for the scan of your system to complete. After that, you will find yourself in the main menu of the application.

Step 4

Then in the right window of AIDA64 select "Motherboard". In the following list of devices also select "Motherboard". A window will open, which will be divided into several sections. The bottom-most section is called Motherboard Manufacturer. This section has links to updating drivers and BIOS. Double-click the left mouse button on the Download BIOS Updates link. Download the latest BIOS.

Step 5

Run ASUS Update software. From the main menu, select Update BIOS from file. Specify the path to the file downloaded from the Internet. Select this file with the left mouse click. Proceed further. Wait for the BIOS update process to complete, then the computer will reboot. The BIOS firmware version will be updated.
