Removing a network adapter may be required if the adapter is physically absent or the system automatically assigns the same IP address to a hidden ghost adapter. Solving the problem will require some changes in the Windows registry.

Step 1
Click the "Start" button to bring up the main menu of the system and go to the "Run" item to enter the command line tool.
Step 2
Enter cmd.exe in the Open field of the application window and press the Enter key to confirm your choice.
Step 3
Enter the value set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices = 1 in the command line field and press the softkey labeled Enter to confirm the command.
Step 4
Enter the following value Start DEVMGMT. MSC in the command line field and confirm the execution of the selected command by pressing the Enter key.
Step 5
Select Show Hidden Devices from the View menu of the Command Prompt window.
Step 6
Open the list of devices (tree) "Network adapters" by clicking on the field with the "+" sign on the left side of the computer monitor.
Step 7
Find the shaded network adapter and open the service menu by right-clicking on the field of the required adapter.
Step 8
Select "Uninstall". An alternative way to uninstall the network adapter is to use the DevCon command line interface program that is used to enable, disable, restart, update and remove individual devices or a group of devices. The program is available for download from the official Microsoft website.
Step 9
Download the DevCon tool according to Microsoft's instructions.
Step 10
Unpack the 32-bit or 64-bit DevCon binary to a local folder.

Return to the main Start menu and select Run to invoke the command line utility.
Step 12
Enter cmd in the Open field and press Enter to confirm your choice.
Step 13
Enter CD: Binary_path to navigate to the folder containing the devcon.exe file.
Step 14
Run devcon findall = net or devcon listclass net to find installed network adapters.
Step 15
Remove the hidden network adapter using the command
devcon -r remove
