Typically, the amount of RAM in a netbook is never too high. Therefore, users often increase the volume by installing an additional bar.
Possibility check
One of the main problems in installing additional RAM on a netbook is the lack of slots for additional RAM strips. The fact is that not all netbooks have the ability to install additional RAM, which is justified by their compactness. It is believed that a standard netbook configuration of up to 2 GB of RAM is sufficient. However, among modern netbooks, there is often such an opportunity. In order to verify this, you need to open the netbook, armed with a screwdriver. There should be a small plastic panel inside, blocking access to the RAM modules. It must be unscrewed. Removing the panel, you can see if there is an additional slot for RAM. In fact, you should see a free connector. If it is, then the installation of additional RAM is possible. If there is only one slot or two of them, but both slots are occupied, then the only way to increase the RAM is to replace the existing strip with a strip with a large amount of RAM.
When choosing a new or additional memory strip, as a rule, they are guided by the existing amount of RAM, doubling it. Thus, if your RAM has a volume of, for example, 1 GB and your netbook has only one slot, then it is worth replacing the current bar with a bar with a volume of 2 GB.
It is worth noting that, abusing with an increase in the amount of RAM, you run the risk of reducing the life of the netbook, increasing its heating, as well as reducing the time of its uninterrupted operation from the battery. Situations are also possible when too much RAM leads to the fact that the computer simply does not recognize a bar with such a volume.
Installation
The installation steps differ depending on the netbook model. However, there are general procedures that are similar for different models. So, if you are replacing an existing RAM strip with a new one, then you need to bend the clips holding the strip in the slot, carefully pull out the old strip and insert a new one. Next, you need to bend the clamps again, thus fixing the bar. If you are installing a new strip in an additional slot, then it is enough to move the clamps apart, insert the strip and fix it by sliding the clamps back. Often, the design of the slots provides that the clamps themselves slide when installing the strap, then you just need to first move them apart.
