Step 1
Install your new hard drive into the computer case so that it falls into the ventilation zone, this will protect it from strong heat and help keep the temperature in the system unit cooler. When the system boots, press the key that is responsible for entering the BIOS, in most models of desktop motherboards, the Delete key is used for this, however, in new versions, other command buttons may also be found. Look in the program that opens if your new hard drive is displayed in the system configuration list. If so, then you have installed it correctly.
Step 3
Shut down the BIOS without changing any parameters, start the operating system. Open the control panel of your computer, find the "Administrative Tools" item there. Go to "Computer Management". A small window will appear on your screen, divided into two columns, find in the left "Disk Management" and select with the mouse button.
Step 4
Find your new hard drive there. Format it using the special menu. Also in this program you can set the volume label, disk partitioning, select the file system. It is best to format with NTFS. At the moment, it is she who supports the fastest work with computer files located on the hard disk.

Restart your operating system if required. Then go to the My Computer menu. If you see your new hard drive and all its partitions in the list of storage devices, then you did everything correctly.
