To connect to DSL Internet, you need to purchase and configure an appropriate modem. Some models of these devices allow you to combine several computers into a single network, giving them access to the Internet.

Instructions

Step 1

Select a DSL modem with the desired number of Ethernet channels and connect it to AC power. Connect the telephone line cable to the DSL port using a splitter. It is not recommended to make a direct connection, because it will reduce the speed of the Internet access. Connect your DSL modem to your computer. For this, use a network cable, the different ends of which are connected to the network card of the computer and the Ethernet port of the modem.

Step 2

Turn on both devices and wait for them to boot. Launch a web browser and enter the IP address of your DSL modem. Press the Enter key, wait for the modem settings interface to load. Open the WAN menu. Configure the parameters of the network device.

Step 3

Enter the username and password provided to you by your ISP. Fill in the MTU field with the required value. Enter the access point, if required. Be sure to enable DHCP and NAT functions. This will make it easier to configure the network adapters of your computers.

Step 4

Click the Apply button to save the settings for the DSL modem. Reboot your network equipment. Sometimes this will require disconnecting the modem from the AC mains for a few seconds. Wait until your DSL modem is fully loaded. Re-enter the menu of its settings. Open the Status item and check the activity of the Internet connection.

Step 5

Try to open an arbitrary web page to test internet access. If the modem does not have the ability to use the DHCP function, open the list of network connections on your computer. Go to the TCP / IP properties of the network adapter that is connected to the modem.

Step 6

Enter an arbitrary static IP address. Complete the Default Gateway and Preferred DSN Server fields by entering the internal IP address of your DSL modem. Save the parameters of the network card and wait for the network update.
