Instructions

Step 1

Launch the KDE configuration window on your Linux PC. To do this, in the main menu, find the "Computer" button, then click on the "System Settings" tab. After that, follow the hierarchy of settings: select the "Keyboard" section and check the box next to "Enable NumLock".

Step 2

In some cases, numlock is enabled in the BIOS settings. But, despite the fact that the Boot Up Num-Lock LED parameter does exist, experts believe that installing it is absolutely useless. The fact is that the operating system installed on the PC controls this setting itself.

Step 3

Observe the numlock indicator during boot: first, whatever is set in the BIOS is turned on, and then when the Linux kernel is loaded, the actions (enabling or disabling numlock) are performed according to the settings set in KDE.

Step 4

To enable numlock when booting a personal computer with the Windows operating system installed, click on the "Start" button and then select "Run". After that, in the field that opened the window, type in the regedit command and confirm all your actions by clicking OK.

Step 5

In the window that opens, go to the Keyboard subsection. After that, left-click on the Keyboard subsection, and in the right part of the window, find the InitialKeyboardIndicators string parameter. Then, on this parameter, right-click on the "Change" item.

Step 6

In the "Change string parameter" window, namely in its "Value" field, enter the number 2. Then click OK and restart the personal computer.
