It is not difficult to rewrite your favorite CD / DVD disc. Both a special program and a standard option in the Windows operating system of any version can cope with this task.

Necessary

  • - notebook;
  • - cd / dvd disc;
  • - a special program for burning discs.

Instructions

Step 1

There are two ways to rewrite a disk on a laptop: using standard commands or using a special program. The most widely used program is Nero Burning ROM.

Step 2

Make sure your laptop's CD / DVD drive is burnable. This drive has special symbols labeled Recorder and / or ReWritable to indicate which type of disc it is playing.

Step 3

If your laptop has Nero Burning ROM, start it. Open your laptop's CD / DVD drive and insert the disc you want to overwrite. Click on the "Copy and Save" icon. It looks like two discs. In the menu that appears, click on the line "Copy disc".

Step 4

The program will take you to the "Select source and destination" window, where you must specify the source drive and destination drive. For a laptop, it will be the same drive. Select the speed at which you want to record and the number of copies. Click on "Burn" (in some versions - "Burn"). The window that appears will display information about the start of copying and creating a disk image.

Step 5

After a while, when the program copies the disc and creates its image, the CD / DVD drive will open and the “Insert blank disc” notification will appear on the screen. After installing a blank disk, the program will begin the process of burning the image to it. After the end of the recording, the "Burning Successfully Completed" window appears. Click OK. This will open your laptop's CD / DVD drive.

Step 6

If your computer does not have special programs for copying CD / DVD discs, you can make a copy of a disc using simple operations. Insert the disc to be copied into the drive. Open "My Computer" and click on the icon of this disk with the right mouse button.

Step 7

Select "File Explorer" from the drop-down menu. A new window will open with the folders available on this drive. Highlight and copy them to any folder on your laptop. It's best to copy them to your desktop so you don't get lost by accident. After the folders are completely copied to your laptop, remove the disc from the CD / DVD drive.

Step 8

Select the copied folders and right-click. In the drop-down menu that opens, select "Submit." Go to the new menu and click on the CD / DVD drive icon. In the lower right corner of the screen, the message “There are files waiting to be written to disk” appears. Click on it. In the window that opens, you will see the folders that you are going to burn. Insert a blank CD / DVD into your drive and click on "Burn files to disc". The system will calculate the time required for recording and start copying. After the copying process is complete, a notification window will appear. Click OK.
