The basic input / output system - BIOS - is used only for testing the hardware and its initial initialization when the computer is turned on. It then transfers control to the host operating system and exits. Unlike the main system, the base one stores its settings not on the hard disk, but in one of the motherboard microcircuits. They can be overwritten using the BIOS setup panel.
Instructions
Step 1
The settings panel of the basic input / output system can only be accessed while the BIOS is running, that is, after turning on the computer, but before loading the main OS. Therefore, if the main system is already running, initiate a computer restart - open the main menu and select the corresponding item in it.
Step 2
After the OS is finished, the BIOS will start checking the hardware and informational messages about this will appear on the screen. Wait until all POST requests are over and in the lower left part of the screen the BIOS in English prompts you to press the Delete button to enter the settings panel. This key is most often used to issue a command, but other options are also possible - F2, F10, F1, Esc, Ctrl + Alt, Ctrl + Alt + Esc, Ctrl + Alt + Ins.
Step 3
The basic system will wait for a press for a very short time - a second or two - so it is easy to miss the moment. To prevent this from happening, either start periodically pressing the required key immediately after the POST requests appear on the screen, or be guided by the light signal - the keyboard will blink with all the LEDs at the right time.
Step 4
Change the settings in the preferences panel and then exit and save the changes. This can be done by selecting the appropriate item in the menu or by pressing the "hot key" - which key or combination is assigned to this operation in your BIOS version, you can find out from the inscription at the top of the panel. This inscription is present on almost every page of all sections of the settings.
Step 5
It is possible to replace all settings with factory settings without using the Basic I / O System Setup Panel. To do this, for 10 minutes, remove the battery on the motherboard from its socket or rearrange the jumper - jumper - next to this battery. This jumper should be marked with CLR_CMOS or simply CCMOS.
