If you have come across records that have been converted to digital format, for example, records from cassettes with magnetic tape, you probably know that digitization occurs at different speeds. Some used 19 speed, others the speed, which was 2 times more. As a result, different compositions could not be combined into one collection. The only way out of this situation is to change the playback speed.
Necessary
Sound Forge software, Windows Media Player
Instructions
Step 1
If you need to slightly change the playback speed, you can use the standard player that is built into the operating system distribution kit (Windows Media Player). After launching the player and the media file, go to the Now Playing tab, click the More Options button, then select Adjust Playback Speed.
Step 2
Using the slider, you can roughly adjust the speed of music playback. You can also use the auxiliary buttons "Lower", "Middle" and "Higher". In order for the speed you have chosen to be triggered for each file, uncheck the box next to the "Binding governor to standard speeds" item.
Step 3
If you need to change the playback speed more precisely, use the Sound Forge software. With its help, you can set your own playback speed for each file, besides, all changes made by you are saved in the file forever. To change the playback speed, select the Resampling or Pitch Shift item in the Process menu.
Step 4
In the latest versions of this program, the menu values have changed slightly, so all the actions that need to be performed will look like this. Click the Effect menu, choose Pitch, then Shift. In the window that opens, change the following values:
- semitones to shift pitch by - put 11 or 12;
- accuracy - High;
- press the button "Apply" and "OK".
