Reducing the playback speed or "slow-mo" (from the English slow-motion or slo-mo) is one of the favorite cinematic techniques of the American director Zack Snyder. Of course, the power of a home computer and software tools may not be enough to do something like this ourselves, but we will try.
Instructions
Step 1
Open Sony Vegas video editor 10. Click File -> Open, select the desired file, click "Open", and the video will appear in the workspace. Click on it with the right mouse button and in the menu that appears, select the lowest item - Properties (or "Properties" if you have a Russian version). Go to the Video event tab and find the Playback rate item, which by default has a value of one. Accordingly, to reduce the playback speed, make this indicator less by as much as you need. Conversely, if you suddenly want to get the effect of fast rewinding, enter a number greater than one in the field. The maximum allowable Playback rate is 4, the minimum is 0.25.
Step 2
If, together with the video track, the file has an audio track, and to combine its speed it is also necessary to reduce its speed, we will use another program - Sound Forge 10, because Sony Vegas 10 does not have tools for this. Of course, processing just sound files in Sound Forge is also not prohibited.
Step 3
Open the program, click File -> Open (hotkeys Ctrl + O), select the desired file and click "Open". In addition to sound files, Sound Forge can also open video - the image will be in the upper part of the workspace, and for convenience, you can open the built-in video player: the View menu item and a check mark next to Video Preview. To slow down the sound, go to Effects -> Pitch -> Shift. Move the Semitones to shift pitch by slider to the side you want, i.e. to the left, and then click "OK".
