Creating a guest connection is mainly used to test the modem's operation or to contact the technical support service of the provider. In general, the process of creating such a connection is not much different from adding a regular one.
Necessary
- - skills of a confident PC user;
- - modem;
- - availability of an internet connection.
Instructions
Step 1
Open the control panel and select the "Network Connections" section. If you want to access the network using a regular Dial-Up modem, make sure that it is connected with a wire to the telephone socket. Select the option to add a new connection.
Step 2
In the wizard that opens, select the very first item. Click "Next". Next, select the second item of the manual connection settings. Select a regular modem in the equipment and continue the process of creating a connection.
Step 3
Enter the service provider name or any other name for the connection shortcut. In the next configuration step, enter the number that your modem will dial to access the guest connection. You can find it out on the official website of the provider, as well as by contacting a special customer support service. Also pay attention to what username and password should be specified to access services through a guest connection, usually test, guest, etc. are used.
Step 4
Enter your username and password in the corresponding lines of the setup wizard. These points are often the same for a guest connection. If required, add a shortcut to the desktop and complete the process of creating the guest connection.
Step 5
If you need to use guest access with a dedicated line, select your modem and connection type in the setup wizard, these items must be spelled out in the service provider agreement. Create a guest connection, type in the test login and password into the appropriate lines.
Step 6
Some providers provide guest access without entering them, in this case just leave the fields blank. You can find out the login and password on the official website, or by contacting the technical support service.
