Hiding your IP address on the Internet may be necessary for many users in connection with the increased incidence of violations of the confidentiality of personal information.
Instructions
Step 1
Determine the desired method of masking your IP address: an online service, an anonymizer or a specialized program.
Step 2
Use the Internet search for lists of proxy servers (special intermediate network nodes that provide anonymity) to select the most suitable one and configure it manually. To do this, copy its IP address and expand:
- the "Tools" menu of the upper toolbar of the Internet Explorer window and select the "Internet Options" item. Go to the "Connections" item and open the "Network Settings" link - for Internet Explorer;
- the "Settings" menu of the upper toolbar of the Opera browser window and select the "Network" item. Go to "Configure" - for Opera;
- the "Tools" menu of the top toolbar of the Mozilla Firefox browser window and select the "Options" item. Go to the "Advanced" item and expand the "Security" link. Select the "Network" section and go to the "Proxy" item. Expand the "Servers" node - for Mozilla Firefox and enter the saved address in the corresponding field.
Step 3
Confirm the execution of the command by clicking the OK button and apply the selected changes by clicking the same button again.
Step 4
Download and install one of the following specialized software designed to automatically hide your IP address:
- Mask Surf - automatically integrates into Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers and uses its own lists of proxy servers. The application is fully automated and uses a Russian interface;
- Proxy Switcher Pro - performing an automatic search for available proxy servers with the definition of the country of location;
- Steganos Internet Anonym Pro - uses an ever-changing list of proxy servers and allows you to block pop-ups.
Step 5
Evaluate the capabilities of the Tor open source project, which is the second generation of proxy servers that include random generation of the route of Internet traffic and encryption of transmitted data.
