When rebuilding a local network or combining several networks into one, it is necessary to change the values of some parameters. Better to do it yourself, rather than relying on automatic settings changes.
Instructions
Step 1
To combine several local networks, it is necessary to interconnect the network hubs or routers that are part of each of them. Carry out this operation. Remember that it is strictly forbidden to connect network devices in a ring way.
Step 2
In principle, you can access any computer that is part of the resulting network without additional settings. Problems can only arise when you need to create network shares or install a shared printer. To prevent intranet errors, configure the parameters of the network adapters.
Step 3
If computers of one of the networks got access to the Internet before unification, then the remaining devices should be configured. Open the Network and Sharing Center.
Step 4
Select the Change adapter settings menu. Right-click on the network connection created by the new local network and go to its properties.
Step 5
Select "Internet Protocol TCP / IPv4". Activate the item "Use the following IP address". In the first field, enter the IP, which will match the addresses of the computers on the main network in the first three segments. Naturally, you should not specify the value of the fourth segment, which is already in use by another device.
Step 6
Press the Tab key. The system will automatically issue the subnet mask for this network adapter. If you need to use a different value, then change it yourself. If necessary, specify the values for the default gateway and DSN server. Usually, these fields are filled in if it is necessary to provide this device with Internet access.
Step 7
Repeat the algorithm for setting the network adapter on all other computers. Enter the same subnet mask value and different IP addresses for the devices each time.
