A firewall (brandmauser), or firewall, is a kind of firewall for the Windows operating system. It is one of the core elements of Windows Security Center. The main task of the firewall is to control the access of programs to the local network and the Internet.
Instructions
Step 1
The firewall (from German - "fire wall") appeared in 2001 in one of the editions of Microsoft Windows XP as a network configuration program called "Internet Connection Firewall". Today, a firewall helps prevent unauthorized intruders and malware from accessing your computer over a worldwide or local area network. Disabling a firewall increases the risk of catching an electronic virus and puts your computer at risk of attack by hackers, especially if you do not have antivirus or third-party firewalls installed. Turning off Windows Firewall in whole or in part is at your own risk.
Step 2
To access the Windows Firewall, go to the "Control Panel" through "Start" or through the system folder "My Computer" (top button "Open Control Panel" in the edition of Windows 7). Select the view mode - "small icons" and find the shortcut "Windows Firewall" - it shows a planet and a brick wall.
Step 3
Run the shortcut to open the firewall. In the opened Windows Firewall window in the left menu, click on the link "Turn Windows Firewall on or off." In the settings that appear on the screen for each type of network, select "Disable Windows Firewall (not recommended)". When done, click the OK button at the bottom of the screen and close Windows Firewall.
Step 4
For the changes to take effect, disconnect from the local network and / or the Internet and reconnect.
