Vob files are lightly compressed video on DVD movie discs. Their advantage is a better picture, but they take up a lot of space. To eliminate this drawback, video encoder programs are used. They compress the video stream using codecs. As a result, the image is slightly degraded, but the file size is significantly reduced.
Instructions
Step 1
First, download the conversion software. Among the programs for processing and converting video files, there are paid and free programs, as well as programs designed for beginners or advanced users. For one-time operations, one of the free programs aimed at beginners is best suited. These tools allow you to complete the entire operation with optimal quality in a few clicks. A good choice is Any Video Converter, Format Factory, or Total Video Converter. Any of them will do an excellent job.
Step 2
Open your usual web browser and on the search engine page, ask for a download request, for example, "Download Any Video Converter". Download the installation file for the program. Double-click the installer. Installation is simple, you just need to click Next or Next until you see a message that the installation process is complete.
Step 3
Activate the program shortcut on the desktop, or open the Start menu, the All Programs item and find a submenu named Any Video Converter in it. In this submenu there is an icon for launching the program - click it.

The main encoder window will open. The first button you should click is "Select Video". It is quite large and symbolically designed in the form of a reel of a film strip. When clicked, select your vob file and click the Open button in the dialog box.

After a few seconds, a line with the name of your file and its parameters will appear in the main window of the program. On the right side of the window there are encoding parameters and a preview window with control buttons. You can press the play button to check if the file is selected.
Step 6
Above the viewport there is a menu for selecting the encoding format - that is, from the drop-down list you need to select what the program will convert the vob file into. If you want to watch the video on your computer, select "Custom *.avi". If you are converting video for viewing on the phone, point the program to the item "Mobile MPEG-4 video". Below the viewing window, you can select encoding parameters, for example, the frame size - it is selected from the drop-down list.
Step 7
When you make your choice, select the line with the file and click the "Encode" button. The process will take some time, depending on the file size and the power of your computer. By default, the resulting file will be saved in the My Documents folder of Any Video ConverterAVI. When coding for the first time, the program will display a window with an offer to buy a pro-version of the program or simply open the folder with the file (Open folder). Select the Open Folder button.
