The bulk of advanced computer and laptop users prefer to divide hard drives into partitions. This operation allows you to provide additional convenience when searching for the information you need on your computer, as well as to avoid the loss of important data when reinstalling the operating system. It is recommended to create at least two partitions on the hard disk, one of which will have the OS installed. But sometimes it becomes necessary to combine partitions on the hard drive.
Necessary
- Windows 7 installation disc
- Paragon Partition Magic
Instructions
Step 1
The easiest way to connect broken local disks into a single unit is to do it during the installation of the Windows 7 operating system. Turn on the computer and press Del to enter the BIOS. Find Boot Device Priority and set your optical drive first. Insert the Windows Seven installation disc into it and restart your computer.
Step 2
After starting the operating system setup program, wait for the partition selection window to appear. Click "Disk Setup". Select one of the sections that you want to connect, find the "Delete" button and click it.
Step 3
Repeat the above operation for the rest of the sections that you want to combine. Click "Create", specify the size of the future section and click "Apply". Proceed with the installation of the operating system. Note: all information from the sections will be deleted.
Step 4
If you do not want to reinstall the operating system, or you need to save important data on partitions after connecting them, then use the Paragon Partition Magic program. You can download it from this site
Step 5
Install the program and restart your computer. This will give the program full access to your hard drive partitions. Run the program and select any of the possible modes. Select Merge Sections.
Step 6
Specify the section or sections to which you want to connect the first area. Do not select "Format" and "Change file system". Click Apply.
Step 7
Wait until a window appears asking you to restart your computer and perform this operation. The program will continue to run in DOS mode. The operation time can take from 20 minutes to several hours.
