One of the great things about Vista is that it comes standard with a system restore option. This option allows you to revert Vista to an earlier state. And this is necessary in the case when the OS stops working stably. This can happen after installing certain software that may have caused the system to crash.

Step 1
You can start the System Restore service like this. Click the mouse in sequence "Start-All Programs-Accessories-System-Restore". If you set a password for your account, then a window will appear in which you will need to enter it. If you did not set a password, then the system recovery window will immediately open. In this window, select a restore point and start the process.
Step 2
A bar will appear on the screen, with the help of which you can monitor the process. As soon as the bar reaches the end of the screen, the computer will restart. After starting the PC, a window will appear on the screen with a notification about the successful system recovery. If a message appears stating that the system state could not be restored, then try selecting a different restore point.
Step 3
You can also run System Restore in this way. Press the keyboard shortcut WIN + R. In the window that appears, enter the Cmd command. A command prompt will appear and enter rstrui.exe. After a second, the System Restore Launch Service opens.
Step 4
If the computer does not boot, and you cannot start the System Restore service in the usual way, then you should try to boot the system in safe mode, and already there run the System Restore tool. In order to enter safe mode, immediately after turning on the computer, press the F8 key (alternatively, the F5 key can act).
Step 5
A menu for selecting options for loading the operating system appears. In this menu, you should select "Safe Mode". Then wait for the OS boot in this mode, which takes longer than normal boot. Instead of a splash screen, the screen will display "Safe Mode". The subsequent steps are exactly the same as in the previous case.
