Modern keyboards are unlearning their 20-year-old counterparts. More often they have multimedia keys and buttons for additional functionality. It happens that they start to get in the way. Changing your keyboard settings is easy.
Instructions
Step 1
The power control keys can be disabled by going to the "Control Panel", then select the "Power supply" icon. The settings window will open. In it you need to click on the link "Action of the power buttons". The new window will have two lines. In the bottom "When the sleep button is pressed," specify "No action required." At the top "When you press the power button", select the option you want or cancel the action in the same way.
Step 2
Provided that the Win button (Windows) is getting in the way, start the text editor "Notepad" and create a new document. Type in (or copy and paste from the clipboard) the following text: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Click the "File" tab, then select "Save as …", then in the "File type" line you need to specify "All files (*. *)". For File Name enter: Disable_Win_key.reg, then click Save. Run the resulting file, a dialog box will appear in which select "Yes".
Step 4
Laptops are often equipped with an additional functionality button for the Fn keys. It allows you to adjust the volume level, brightness and contrast of the image, enable / disable the touch panel and more, depending on the model. There are several ways to disable Fn. Press the Fn + Num Lock combination, many laptops define it as a command to disable Fn. You can use HDD Protector if you have a Toshiba laptop. Run it, select the "Optimization" tab, the "Accessibility" item, then uncheck the box next to the "Use the Fn key" line. If you want to disable Fn in BIOS, find the Active Key Mode tab, put it in the Disabled state. Remember to save the settings in BIOS before exiting.
Step 5
Multimedia keyboards often come with proprietary software. It is easy to understand as it has an intuitive interface. In these programs, you can disable the multimedia buttons or change their meaning so that it is convenient for you. If you do not have such a program, download the program for working with multimedia and ordinary keyboards MKey (Media Key) from the official website. Install it, run it, select the "Keys" tab, where you can configure the desired action for the desired keys or their combinations.
