How does life become more complicated if the currently needed program or game does not start in the absence of an installation disc in the drive? Only a perfectly copied disc can become a replacement for such a disc. At the same time, it is not at all necessary to spoil blank disks for these purposes. With the help of programs that allow you to create virtual drives and virtual media (disk images) on your computer, you can forget about such problems. One of these programs is Alcohol 120%.

Instructions
Step 1
Launch Alcohol 120%. Initially, the interface looks like the one shown in the picture.
Step 2
To create a virtual disk drive, go to the File menu, select Settings. In the window that opens, on the left, select "Virtual disk", and then on the right, select the number of virtual disks you need and click OK. Creation of virtual disks will happen automatically, the names will be assigned alphabetically.

If you need a disk image that can then be inserted into this virtual drive, then select "General options" from the menu on the left and click "Create images". After that, a window will appear in front of you, which is shown in the picture.

In practice, all settings made at this stage can be left unchanged. In the upper right corner, select the drive where the disc is inserted and click "Next".
Step 5
In the next window, you can specify the name of the virtual image, as well as specify the directory in which it will be located. In addition, in the lower right corner you can specify the required image format. Usually, most images are created in the standard iso format, but if you wish, you can additionally find out why other formats are used.
Step 6
After all these operations, click on "Start" and enjoy how the virtual disk image is created. The time it takes to create an image depends mainly on the size of the disk and its condition (from a few to 20-30 minutes). If there are scratches on the disc, this will significantly increase the image creation time, and may lead to the fact that it will not work at all.
Step 7
After the creation of the virtual disk-image, it remains only to insert it into the virtual disk drive for further work. To do this, you need to open the program and in the first window on the right you will see your image. Right-click on the image and in the context menu that opens, select the "Mount to device" item with the left mouse button, and then select your virtual floppy drive.
