Some music tracks in the Windows Media Player library may have incomplete or incorrect information about the image, artist name, song, album, etc. And if this annoys you, it makes absolutely no sense to endure these inaccuracies. Windows Media has at least two ways to enter information about files.

Instructions

Step 1

Click the "Switch to Library" button, which is located in the upper right corner of the program. To find the files you want, click on "Library" in the upper left and then "Music". You will see a list of characteristics, choose the one that you know exactly about the file. For example, you know that the song is performed by the Gorillaz Orchestra group, select the "Artist" feature and look for this command in the list that appears. When you find an artist, click on it.

Step 2

You will see a list of songs of this group, indexed by the player, and information about them. Right-click on the item that you would like to edit and click "Edit". To change information in several elements at once, you need to select them. Adjacent elements can be surrounded by a frame, and non-adjacent ones have to be selected by holding down the Ctrl key. There are elements that cannot be changed, for example, the file size, its time, the date of the last playback, etc., and some are completely hidden by default. To display them, click Arrange> Outline> Select Columns. In the window that appears, check the boxes next to the characteristics that you would like to make visible.

Step 3

To avoid manual editing, you can force the search for information about files on the network. Find the necessary album in the library, right-click on the picture and select "Find album information" in the menu that appears. From the options offered by the search, select the one you want and click "Next" and then "Finish". If the information you are looking for is not there, all you have to do is click "Cancel".

Step 4

If you do not protect the changed data from being overwritten, the player may overwrite it by itself based on the network database. To do this, click Arrange> Options> Library. Find the "Automatically update media information" area and select the "Add only missing information" option.
