Most files, when looking at their properties, give out certain information. In particular, the date of creation, the program in which they were created, etc. Sometimes the user needs to completely remove or correct this information.
Instructions
Step 1
The ability to edit information depends on the file type. For example, you have a file in *.doc format. Right-click it, select Properties from the context menu. A window will open, in the "Summary" tab, information about the file will be indicated. Some lines are editable, some are not. For example, you can change the author's name, the last modified date, the type of application used. If you typed text in Microsoft's Word editor, then you can change the type of application as follows: open it in Open Office, change a couple of characters (then you can put everything back in place) and save it in *.doc format. The summary will change to no mention of Microsoft Office.
Step 2
It's harder to change the summary of a photo. For example, you processed a photo in Photoshop and you don't want the file information to keep a mention of that program. To change the summary, you need the ExifCleaner program. Find it on the Internet, download it, open the image to be processed in it. Select the line with it, data about the photo will appear on the right side of the program window. Click the Clean Setup button to mark the lines to be deleted. Then click Quick Clean - all selected data will be deleted.
Step 3
If you need to not just delete, but replace photo data, use the ASDSee program. It has rich capabilities for working with images, and can change data from the summary of the file. You can download the 30-day version of the program for free:
Step 4
The Quick EXIF Editor is very good at editing summary image files. Its only drawback is its awkward interface. Download and install the program, run it. A small window will appear in front of you. Click the Open button and select the file you need. A drop-down list in the very center of the program will display the metadata.
Step 5
Open the list, select the required line (the data may be at the very bottom, so drag the slider). Then edit the data in the Value field and save the changes: click the Commit change (s) button, in the new window, click the Save button. This application is best used in combination with the already mentioned ExifCleaner program. Look in it for a complete list of EXIF metadata, find the line you need and correct (or delete) it in the Quick EXIF Editor.
Step 6
Sometimes it becomes necessary to change the data about the time of file creation. The easiest way is this: set the computer system time to the date you need. Open the required file and save it under a different name - the set system time will be added to the summary.
