When processing an image in Adobe Photoshop, the user may need to cut out a section in order to paste it onto another layer or onto a new canvas. This can be done in several ways.

Instructions

Step 1

Open the image in Photoshop. Using the tools from the Select block ("Selection"), select the desired fragment or image as a whole. To cut the selection, in the Edit menu, select the Cut command by clicking on it with the left mouse button. The image (or part of it) will be placed on the clipboard.

Step 2

Create a new canvas, give it the desired dimensions, select the Edit command Paste ("Paste"). The fragment that was on the clipboard will be transferred to the canvas. You can also use keyboard shortcuts. To cut a selection, press the Ctrl and X keys; to paste it, Ctrl and V.

Step 3

If you need to cut a fragment and paste it on a new layer in the same image, you can either use the commands indicated in the previous steps, or replace them with one command Layer via cut ("Cut to a new layer"). To do this, right-click on the selection and select this command from the context menu. A new layer will be created automatically, and the selection will move to it.

Step 4

You can also install from disk or find on the Internet a plug-in that allows you to cut out complex images with small details (for example, animal fur or hair) from the background. The installation process is automated. In most cases, when using such plug-ins in Photoshop, a separate window opens with its own interface. To use the tool, click on the item with its name in the Filter menu.

Step 5

In the event that you need to cut out a certain fragment and leave only it on the canvas, select the desired part of the image, in the Image menu ("Image") select the command Crop ("Crop"). The part of the image that was outside the selection will be deleted. The size of the canvas will be adapted to the size of the resulting image.
