It's nice to do something with your own hands. A cut-out fragment of an audio recording placed on a mobile phone as a signal for incoming calls can amuse much more than a ready-made ringtone cut by someone else. And, most importantly, cutting out a piece of sound is not at all difficult. Just a few simple steps in the audio editor, and you will have a new way to cheer yourself up and, possibly, those around you.
Necessary
- - Adobe Audition program;
- - browser;
- - audio file.
Instructions
Step 1
Load the song you want to cut from into Adobe Audition. Do this using the Open command from the File menu. If the song you need a fragment from is saved as a video file with an audio track, use the Open Audio from Video command from the same File menu.
Step 2
Play the file using the Play button from the Transport palette. By default, this palette is at the bottom left of the audio editor window. Find the beginning of the fragment of the song you need and place the cursor on this place by clicking the left mouse button. Pressing the F8 button, set the marker marking the beginning of the fragment.
Step 3
Play the song and find the end of the section you want to cut. Move the cursor to this location by clicking the left mouse button. Add a marker to mark the end of the section.
Step 4
While holding down the left mouse button, select the entire remainder of the song from the last marker to the end of the file. Delete the selection by pressing the Delete key. In the same way, select the section of the song from the first marker to the beginning of the file. Delete this fragment by pressing the Delete key on your keyboard. Only the segment of the song that you want to save is left in the audio editor window.
Step 5
Save the portion of the song using the Save As command from the File menu. Select the location where you will save the song fragment. Enter a name for the file to be saved in the File Name field. Select mp3 from the "File Type" drop-down list. Click the Options button and select the bitrate value for the saved fragment from the drop-down list. Do not set the bitrate of the saved file higher than that of the original recording. This will not improve the sound quality, and the file size will obviously increase. You can view the bitrate of the source file using the File Info command from the File menu. Click on the Save button. The cut portion of the song is saved.
