Many people know how to edit music on a computer. This is not difficult today, given the widespread use of special software. But for video editing, there are the same intuitive solutions. For example, if you need to split a movie into two parts, you just need to install a small program.
Instructions
Step 1
To split a movie into two parts, as well as perform simple video editing functions without learning how to edit video, use the simple program Virtual Dub. The author's website has a slogan that reads: "Proof that I had too much free time in college." The history of the program began when the author, being a student, thought about creating the most simple utility for editing video files. You can download the program from the official website for free.
Step 2
To edit your movie, open it in Virtual Dub. The interface of the main window of the program consists of two displays and a toolbar located at the bottom. Using the mouse, drag the slider on the time line to the frame from which you want to split the movie into two parts. Mark the beginning of the segment by pressing the Home button on the keyboard or by pressing the second button from the right on the program toolbar.
Step 3
Similarly, set the end of the movie segment by pressing the End key or the first button on the right toolbar. Delete the fragment selected in this way by pressing the Del key. You will be left with the first of the two parts of the film.
Step 4
Save the rest of the movie as a separate new file. To do this, press F7 or select the Save as AVI command from the File menu. However, before that, you should configure the processing of audio and video streams through the corresponding menu of the program. However, if you just need to split the movie into two parts without using additional processing and output filters, select the Direct Stream Copy options from the Audio and Video menus. This will significantly speed up the processing and resaving of the movie. However, to avoid unexpected results in the resulting file, by specifying the start and end frames of the segment, click on the buttons with the drawn keys. And specify the found keyframes as the boundaries of the segment.
Step 5
Create and save the second part of the movie in the same way.
