In order for this process to take place quickly and without losing important information, it is customary to split the hard disk into several parts. One of them is reserved for the operating system and related programs, and the rest are a repository of various information.

Instructions
Step 1
The best way to divide your hard drive into multiple partitions is before installing the operating system. Insert the Windows installation disc into your drive. Open the BIOS by pressing Del when the PC starts booting, and set the boot priority for the drive.
Step 2
When at the beginning of the installation you will see a window with a choice of a local disk on which the operating system will be installed, select the hard disk that you want to partition and click the "Remove" button. Now click the "Create" button and specify the size of the future section. If this is a system area, then its size is recommended to be 40-60 GB. Repeat the operation to create another partition where your data will be stored.
Step 3
If you need to partition the hard drive after installing the operating system, then download and install a program called Paragon Partition Magic. Run it in power user mode, open the "Wizards" tab and click on the "Quick Create Section" line. Specify the disk on which the partition will be created, its file system and size. Click Apply. Your computer will restart to complete the operation. Remember that a new partition can only be created from a free area on the disk.
