People who are slow to type and edit text on a computer are wasting a lot of time. To speed up your work, you need to learn how to select all pages of the document not only with the mouse, but also with different keyboard shortcuts.
Instructions
Step 1
Learn to quickly position the cursor at the beginning / end of a text line, as well as the entire document. Practice doing everything in a simple program "Notepad", and then apply the skills gained, working in text editors Microsoft Word, Open Office Writer, etc. Type in "Notepad" long text, divided into paragraphs, and then place the cursor in the middle of any line. The Home key on the keyboard allows you to instantly move the cursor to the beginning of a line, and the End key to the end of the line. If you press two keys Ctrl + Home at the same time, the cursor will move to the beginning of the document, and after pressing Ctrl + End - to its end. You are now ready to learn how to select text.
Step 2
Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + A to instantly select all text, no matter where the cursor is. To deselect the selection, press one of the four arrows on your keyboard or click the mouse.
Step 3
Place the cursor at the beginning of the document as described in the first step. Press the left mouse button and move through the text from top to bottom until everything is selected. This is a different method, but it is time consuming, especially if the document is long. If the text consists of only a few small paragraphs, you can use this option.
Step 4
Place the cursor at the very beginning of the text, then press Shift + Down. Hold down the Shift key and press the arrow on your keyboard as many times as necessary to complete the task.
Step 5
Place your cursor at the end of the document. Now use the combination Shift + Up. Proceed in the same way as in step four.
Step 6
When the cursor is at the beginning of the text, press simultaneously Ctrl + Shift + End. This option is one of the fastest.
Step 7
If the cursor is at the very end, press Ctrl + Shift + Home.
Step 8
Position the cursor again at the very beginning. To select text in paragraphs, press Ctrl + Shift + Page Down. To mark all of the text, you will have to repeat the procedure.
Step 9
Use Ctrl + Shift + Page Up for a similar effect, but when the cursor is at the end of the document.
Step 10
Find the top menu "Edit", and in it the item "Select All". This is also a quick selection method, but without the keyboard.
Step 11
When the cursor is at the very end, press and hold the Alt key. Double-click the blank space below the text to select the entire document.
