Instructions

Step 1

If you need to connect two laptops or netbooks to the Internet using a USB modem, there are two ways to do this. In the first case, you need a network cable, and in the second, you can do without additional devices. Connect your USB modem to any laptop.

Step 2

Turn on the device and set up an internet connection. The manufacturer of the USB modem does not play any role. Now you need to connect laptops, i.e. create a wireless local area network between them.

Step 3

Open the Network and Sharing Center on the laptop to which the USB tethering is connected. Go to the "Manage Wireless Networks" menu. Find the "Add" button located on the toolbar and click it.

Step 4

Click on the item "Create a computer-to-computer network". In the window that appears, click the "Next" button. A menu titled “Connect to a wireless network manually” appears.

Step 5

Fill in the fields that exist in it. Activate the "Save this network settings" function. After a while, a window will appear informing you that the network has been successfully created.

Step 6

Turn on the second laptop. Activate the search for available wireless networks. Find your network and connect to it. Open the "Network Connections" submenu located in the "Network and Internet" menu.

Step 7

Open the TCP / IP properties of the wireless adapter. Give it a static IP address. Let's say its value will be 75.75.75.2. For Default Gateway and Preferred DNS Server, enter 75.75.75.1.

Step 8

Open the similar settings for the network adapter of the first laptop. Set the permanent IP address for this device to 75.75.75.1. Go to internet connection properties. Select the "Access" tab. Allow the wireless LAN to use this internet connection.

Step 9

Save the settings. Disconnect from the internet and reconnect.
