Sometimes it becomes necessary to find out your IP address. This is a digital code for identifying the network. The IP address is always unique within your computer network. It can be dynamic or static (i.e. changeable or not) - it depends on the network hardware, network settings, and ISP. You can easily find out your IP address using system utilities.
Necessary
- - computer;
- - the Internet;
- - administrator rights.
Instructions
Step 1
Click the Start button and select Run. In the window that appears, enter the cmd command and press enter. The opened black window is the command line. It is also worth noting that in order to use this command, in most cases you need to have administrator rights for this computer. Therefore, when you turn on the computer, log in with an administrator account or create a new one.
Step 2
Enter the ipconfig command and hit enter on your keyboard. The window will display information about your network characteristics. You can also enter the ipconfig / all command, which will display an extended version of the informational message, which will include the MAC address.
Step 3
Find the area of data marked as IP address - this is the information you are looking for. Copy it, taking into account the points. Close the command prompt window. Now you know the IP address. It is also worth noting that this parameter can constantly change in the system, since you can have a dynamic IP and it changes every time you connect to the Internet.
Step 4
There is another way to find out the IP address. Go to the control panel, to the "Network and Internet" section, where select "Network and Sharing Center". On the right side of the screen, find the inscription "Local Area Connection" and click on it. In the window that appears, click on the "Details" button - and the screen will display information about your network settings.
Step 5
It is no coincidence that the digital code of an IP address consists of four parts: it is a decimal representation of a binary number denoted by the network number and the computer number on this network. Also important is the subnet mask, which defines the address regardless of the network class. Typically, this subnet mask on most computers is represented as 255.255.255.0. In general, we can say that IP is not difficult to determine.
