Every month hackers come up with new tricks to extort money over the Internet. Advertising modules are one of the ways to attack the computer of an ordinary user. Modules with unwanted images block the screen, restart the computer and require sending an expensive SMS to “unlock” the computer.
Instructions
Step 1
A universal way to remove an ad module is to edit the “hosts” system file.
Go to the C: / Windows / System32 / Drivers / etc folder and find the “hosts” file there, which you need to open using the standard Notepad program. You will be able to see lines with website addresses in the document file. Select all these addresses with the mouse, right-click and select "cut". Then save the file and close. In Windows Vista and Windows 7, the "hosts" file must be run under the administrator account or with all rights permission, otherwise it will be impossible to save changes to the file. After the performed operation, restart your computer.
If the ad did not disappear, it means that it attacked the web browser. The most commonly attacked browsers are Internet Explorer, Opera, and Mozilla Firefox.
Step 2
Removing the ad module in Internet Explorer:
Select the IE menu "Manage add-ons", go to "Turn add-ons on or off." You will see a window with a list of all DLLs connected to the browser. Disable all active libraries, click "OK" and exit the browser, then start it again. There will be no more advertising module.
Step 3
Removing the ad module in Opera:
In the top menu of the browser, select "Tools", then "Options". In the window that opens, click "Javascript Settings", another window will open in which you need to find the "Custom Javascript Files Folder". There you will see an address like C: / WINDOWS / uscripts or similar. Remember this address and delete the entry, and click "OK". Then go to the address in the folder that you remembered, and delete all the files in it, the name of which ends with “.js”.
Step 4
Removing the ad module in Mozilla Firefox:
You need to go to the "Tools" - "Add-ons" tab, and then to "Extensions". When trying to appear to the user as an important add-on, disable the suspicious add-on such as “Video Recorder”. Disable only one add-on at a time, close and open your browser. If the banner has not disappeared, then you need to try to disable another add-on until you get to the pseudo-file with the ad module. Once you find an ad module, you can permanently remove it.
