Google is one of the most popular search engines today. It uses proprietary search technology and indexes several billion web pages every day. To search more efficiently among all this material, you can use special operators for queries.

Instructions

Step 1

For more efficient and accurate searches, Google uses Boolean operators. Without specifying them, the system searches for documents containing all the words of the query, which is equivalent to a logical "AND", i.e. pages will be displayed containing each word in the search phrase that the user specified.

Step 2

If you want to search for a specific phrase separately or see results for two different queries at the same time, use the logical OR operator. To do this, you need to include the vertical bar or enter the name of the operator between the two queries. For example:

Buy refrigerator | television

This request will be equivalent to the following:

Buy refrigerator OR TV

Step 3

Use the + operator to include pages containing a specific word in search results. For example, if you want to search for the Terminator 2 movie, enter the following query:

Terminator +2

In this case, only the results for this movie will be displayed. Without the + operator, pages could appear containing information about other episodes of this film.

Step 4

Similar to the + operator, you can also exclude unwanted pages from the results using the - operator. So, if the query "Terminator 2" is changed to "Terminator -2", all results for this series of movies will be displayed, except for information on the second part of this movie.

Step 5

With the " operator, you can search for a specific phrase in its entirety. For example, if you enter the query "buy refrigeration equipment", you will see only those results that exactly contain the given combination of words in the same order as it was specified in the quotes.

Step 6

Similarly, you can use the cache statement. For example, if some page does not load, but you really need to view it, enter a query of the form cache: address_resource_address in the address bar. You will be presented with a cached copy of the page that contains the information you need.
