Necessary

Windows Recycle Bin, freeware Recuva

Instructions

Step 1

Take a look at the Trash for a start. As a rule, recently deleted files are stored in it, and it is quite possible that your file is located there. If it is there, then right-click on it. Select "Restore" from the list that opens. After these steps, your file will be moved to the place from where it was deleted. If your file is not in the basket, then you need to do more complex actions.

Step 2

Use the free program Recuva to recover files. First, download it from the Internet and install it. To do this, open the downloaded file and click "OK", and then the "Next" button. After you accept the license agreement, the program will begin installation. At the end of the installation, click "Finish" and a shortcut will appear on your desktop, with which you can open the program.

Step 3

Open the program and click Next. In the window that appears, you will be prompted to select the type of your file, i.e. picture, music document or something else. If you do not know or do not remember the file type, click the "Cancel" button.

Step 4

Select the location from which the required file was deleted. This means that if your file was on drive D, then you need to select drive D, if on removable media - Removable drive.

Step 5

Click the "Analysis" button and the program will show you the files that it can recover. Find the file you need and put a bird next to it, then click the "Restore" button.

Step 6

In the window that appears, select the location where you want to restore the file, and then click "OK". If the file is restored, you will see a window that will inform you about it. After that open your file and check it.
