For most active Internet users, the computer has become an integral part of life. And, probably, no one will be surprised by the presence of several devices at home that have the ability to access the World Wide Web. Very often a situation arises when at home it is required to organize either an ordinary local network that facilitates the exchange of information between computers within a house or apartment, or creates a general Internet access for all home devices. Fortunately, there are many ways to achieve this goal.
Necessary
- - switch
- - router
- - network cables
Instructions
Step 1
Think about how it will be easier for you to create a local network. The logic is simple: if among the devices that form the future local area network, laptops or other devices that support Wi-Fi wireless data transmission prevail, then it is most reasonable to create a wireless local area network. In this situation, purchase a Wi-Fi router. Otherwise, switch or wireless router.
Step 2
If the choice fell on a switch, then you just need to purchase an additional network card for the computer from which the Internet will be distributed. Then connect this computer and all other devices to the switch using network cables. Go to the properties of the Internet connection on the host computer and, by going to the "Access" tab, enable Internet access for computers on the local network.
Step 3
If you have chosen wireless networks, then purchase a Wi-Fi router. Connect it to the internet cable via the internet or WAN port. Open its settings and enter the data required by your ISP. Then open the settings of the wireless hotspot and allow the wireless LAN devices to access the Internet.
