Usually, the system hides unwanted files for editing, which have the system status and are involved in the operation. However, OS developers, if necessary, allow users to modify hidden files using the appropriate functions, parameters and utilities.
Instructions
Step 1
To open access to hidden files, go to the "Start" - "Control Panel". Open Folder Options from the Appearance and Themes menu.
Step 2
In the corresponding window go to the "View" tab. Scroll down the list to "Hidden files and folders". Select "Don't show hidden and system files" from the suggested options. Then click "Ok".
Step 3
A shorter access to the "Folder Options" menu can be obtained from the Explorer window by selecting the "Tools" item.
Step 4
Hidden files and folders will become searchable and visible to the user. It will be possible to perform the same operations with them as with ordinary files.
Step 5
In order to turn off the display of hidden files, go to the menu in the same way, and select the "Do not show system files" value in the "Hidden files and folders" item.
Step 6
If viewing hidden files is not enabled (this is possible when various spyware appears on your computer), you will need to edit the corresponding registry settings to reactivate the menu. Create a text file with content: REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer]
“NoFolderOptions” = -
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftInternet ExplorerRestrictions]
“NoBrowserOptions” = - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvancedFolderHiddenSHOWALL]
“CheckedValue” = - [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerAdvancedFolderHiddenSHOWALL]
“CheckedValue” = dword: 00000001
Step 7
Rename the created file to key.reg. Double click on it and confirm changing the parameters in the registry. Restart your computer and then try to reactivate the "Show hidden files and folders" menu item.
