Users of personal computers often copy disk images of iso, nrg, mdf, etc. formats from the network. In some cases, when they are mounted on a reader, the program may display an error about a checksum mismatch. You can check the image for the coincidence of these amounts using special programs.

Instructions

Step 1

Most often, the checksum is understood as the md5 value (checksum). To quickly determine this parameter of any file, you must install the HashTab program. The effect of this program is minimal - it builds its tab into the "File Properties" applet, by going to which you can view the coveted value.

Step 2

You can download the utility from the following link https://www.implbits.com/HashTab/HashTabWindows.aspx. On the loaded page, click the Download button. Installing the program consists in running the installer and clicking the Next and Finish buttons. To test the utility's operation, create a copy of any file on the desktop in another directory, for example, in the "New folder".

Step 3

Right-click the sample file and select Properties. In the window that opens, go to the "File hashes" tab. In the block of sums, you will see 3 parameters (CRC32, MD5 and SHA-1) and their values. Compare one of these values with the checksum of the copy file. To do this, go to the Hash Comparison block and click the Compare File button.

Step 4

In the window that opens, select the file from the "New folder" and press the Enter key. If the sums match on the "File hash sums" tab, you will see a green check mark, otherwise a red strikethrough mark.

Step 5

Please note that the utility has its own settings, which are hidden in the checksum block. Right-click on one of these values - you will see the following options: Copy, Copy All, or Settings. Left-click on the "Settings" line.

Step 6

In the program settings window, you can select the type of checksums that will be displayed. It is recommended to leave marks at CRC32 and MD5, the values of the remaining lines are required in exceptional cases.
