Step 1
The CHMOD attribute system is used when transferring data via FTP on Unix hosting. Programs such as CureFTP and Total Commander are suitable for changing the attributes of the transferred files. Since TC is the most common program, let's look at setting access rights using its example.
Step 2
To set attributes, select one or several files with the left mouse button in one of the Total Commander windows. After that, select the "Files" item and the "Change Attributes" sub-item in the upper control panel. In the window that appears, you can set the standard attributes for the owner, group member and other users - these are attributes such as read, write and execute, and in later versions of Total Commander - archive, read-only, hidden, system.
Step 3
To set numerical attributes, use the table if you do not know the exact numerical value of the attribute. The access rights of the selected files will be changed.
