Service files with the res extension usually contain internal information of programs and games - interface elements, various resources such as sounds and animation. Res files are generated by the development environment of a specific programming language and it is better to edit such files in the environment itself. However, there is a special program Restorator for working with files of this type.
Necessary
the Restorator program
Instructions
Step 1
Download and install the Restorator program on your computer. You can find this software using search engines or immediately download it from softodrom.ru. Launch the program using the shortcut on the desktop. The program is paid, so you will have only 30 days to try it out. The program window is quite standard: the toolbar at the top, the resource tree on the left, and the contents of the selected item on the right.
Step 2
Find the res file you need to view or edit using the File Explorer (pane tab on the right). Select this file by placing the mouse cursor on it and drag it to the left half of the window to extract the resource. We recommend that you create a copy of the res file before making any changes. You can transfer a copy to an information carrier in order to replace it later in the event of a system breakdown.
Step 3
The contents of the res file will appear on the left side of the editor as its constituent elements. To change any element, select it with the mouse. An image of the element, as well as a panel with editing tools, will appear in the right part of the program window.
Step 4
Save the changes made using the "Save" item or using the appropriate icon on the toolbar. Verify the functionality of the file by copying it to the folder of the host program. Using the Restorator program, you can edit exe, dll, res, ocx, scr, rc, dcr, mui, msstyles and others files. You can Russify any application or game, change the interface, and much more. In general, we can say that it is not difficult to open files of the res format when special software is installed on the personal computer.
