No matter how much the user loves the order on the desktop and hard drives of the computer, over time, unnecessary files, unused programs, temporary files, and installation log files accumulate. You can clean your computer from junk using the components designed for this.
Instructions
Step 1
Regular files - videos, images, text documents can be deleted by placing them in the trash, and then empty the trash itself. To delete a file, move the cursor to its icon and right-click on it. In the drop-down menu, select "Delete" and confirm the operation. Alternatively, select a file or group of files, press the Delete key and the Enter key.
Step 2
To empty the basket, move the cursor to its icon, right-click on it and select "Empty basket" in the context menu, confirm your actions. Alternatively, open the Trash component and select the command you want from the Typical Tasks pane on the left side of the window.
Step 3
Try not to delete applications installed on your computer using the Delete key. With this method, program files may remain on the disks that you did not even know about. For example, some games create separate folders for saved scenes in the My Documents folder, regardless of which directory the game is installed in.
Step 4
To uninstall the program, go to the directory where it is installed and click on the uninstall.exe file with the left mouse button. The "Uninstall Wizard" will start, it will independently determine all the components related to the program that need to be removed from the computer.
Step 5
If you can not find the uninstall file, open the "Control Panel" from the "Start" menu and click on the "Add or Remove Programs" icon. Wait until the list of all installed applications is formed, select from the list the program that you no longer need, and click on the "Remove" button located on the right side of the line. Wait for the uninstallation to complete.
Step 6
Using Disk Cleanup, you can remove temporary files, installation log files, and other files that are taking up space on your computer. To call this component, click on the "Start" button, select the "Standard" folder, the "System" subfolder and click on the "Disk Cleanup" item. A new window will open, select the disk you want to clean using the drop-down list. Wait for the information processing to complete.
Step 7
After that, a new window will open, on the "Disk Cleanup" tab you can find out how much space you can free up. Mark the fields of those files that need to be deleted with a marker and click the OK button. On the Advanced tab, you can take advantage of advanced options and remove unused Windows components or old system restore points.
