Linux has long ceased to be an unknown system available only for advanced users. Every year this OS is gaining more and more popularity due to the fact that it is becoming simpler and simpler. The same goes for the system installation process. Each modern distribution kit is equipped with its own installer, which is in no way inferior in convenience to the Windows installer, and in some ways even surpasses it.

Necessary

  • - an image of any Linux distribution;
  • - DVD disc.

Instructions

Step 1

Download the image of the distribution kit you like after reading the system reviews and finding out all the technical data. Many users begin their Linux world by installing Ubuntu, although Mandriva and Fedora are just as easy to use.

Step 2

Burn the downloaded image to a DVD using a dedicated burning utility. The UltraISO program copes well with its tasks, although the standard disk burner manager of Windows Vista and Seven may sometimes work.

Step 3

Place the disc in the drive and restart your computer. Make sure your BIOS has the Boot Menu - First boot device option. Next, the installer will prompt you to select the installation language. Depending on the version of the distribution kit, the installer itself will be launched directly, or the graphical environment of the system to get acquainted with the work of Linux. If the graphical shell has loaded, then on the desktop, click on the Install shortcut.

Step 4

Follow the instructions of the installer. You can install the system on self-prepared disk partitions or choose automatic partitioning. After choosing the last option, all data on your hard drive will be deleted.

Step 5

Select the disk on which the installation will be performed, perform the partitioning (after selecting the appropriate item) and click on the "Install now" button.

Step 6

Enter your location and choose your keyboard layout. Next, enter your preferred username and password. Wait until the installation is complete, then press the "Restart" button and remove the disc from the computer drive. The system can be considered installed.
